Water Hardness

The simple definition of water hardness is the amount of dissolved calcium and magnesium in the water. Water is a great solvent and as it moves through soil and rock it dissolves small amounts of naturally-occurring minerals which it then carries into the groundwater supply.

While hard water deposits are annoying and can cause problems with a homes plumbing, there are some health benefits associated with the minerals in our water.  For more information, check out the USGS website.

Highland City currently has a water hardness of 14 grains per gallon.
